An Afternoon with Pappy Van Winkle
Pappy Van Winkle bourbons are legends of Kentucky whiskey, and on Saturday, 2 August, we are hosting an afternoon dedicated to their glory. You could say that over the past few decades, they have single-handedly brought bourbon back from the brink of extinction. While Pappy Van Winkle himself started distilling in 1935, they truly found their way in the 1990s when a 20-year-old Family Reserve was released and revered. Having replaced rye with wheat in the mash bill, Pappy Van Winkle bourbons are rich, smooth and enhanced by periods of long ageing.
Through the afternoon, taste your way through the many chapters of the Van Winkle legacy. Guests are welcomed to a Pappy Van Winkle masterclass at Apollo Inn, followed by a four-course seasonal menu with matched whiskeys in our Palm Room.
